Exchanges and refunds

Online tickets / online reservations cannot normally be refunded or exchanged. Please consider for this the General Terms and Conditions of Business under point III.1 Refund and cancellation.

Adobe Reader

Adobe Reader must be installed on your computer. Please print out the ticket using the “Print” function of Adobe Reader (i.e. NOT the “Print” function of your web browser). Download Adobe Reader

Printout

Each online ticket / online seat reservation must be printed out full-size (without using the “zoom” or “shrink” features) in portrait format to a previously-blank sheet of white DIN A4 paper. The print size must not be changed. Defaced and/or incomplete printouts will be considered invalid. Before you complete the purchase of your first online ticket, we recommend that you download and print out a test ticket.

Printer types

When printing out your online tickets and/or online seat reservations, please make exclusive use of a laser or inkjet printer with a resolution of at least 600 dpi. Online tickets and/or online seat reservations printed out using a fax machine, photocopier or similar device will not be accepted as valid.

Obligation to carry ID

Online tickets and online seat reservations are personal and non-transferable. They are valid only in conjunction with a corresponding official means of personal identification (passport or identity card), which must be shown to inspection staff on request. Passengers travelling within Switzerland may present, instead of such official means of identification, a valid half-fare or general season ticket made out in the name of the person travelling. Passenger travelling at discount fares must in any case be able to present the document (e.g. half-fare season ticket) justifying such a discount.

Inspection

Passengers must be able at all times to show inspection staff the printouts of their online tickets / online seat reservations, along with the corresponding official means of identification and/or half-fare or general season ticket. Please note that the e-mail confirmation issued by MGB is NOT a valid ticket for travel. Passengers who are unable to show inspection staff a valid online ticket / online seat reservation must immediately buy a valid ticket/seat reservation. A supplement is normally payable in such cases.

Period of validity

The period of validity of online tickets / online seat reservations may vary with respect to those obtained from a ticket office or automatic machine. Tickets / seat reservations are valid only on one calendar day per leg of journey. The days of travel must furthermore be established at the time of purchase. Subsequent alterations and/or exchanges are not permitted.

Additional conditions applying to the Billette Schweiz (“Switzerland Ticket”):

Online tickets can normally be purchased no more than 30 days before the date of travel.

Dogs

Online tickets / online reservations can be issued for dogs.
