Here is an overview of the most frequently asked questions about the Glacier Exrpress
- How can I book seats if I have a Swiss Travel Pass /Interrail Pass /Eurail Pass /GA Season Ticket /Day Ticket?
Start the normal booking process at Glacier Express Webshop. Under passenger details select the ticket you have for the discount. You will only receive a seat reservation.
- How can I choose seats?
Defaults by the system are displayed in green. Light gray seats are no longer available. Dark gray indicates seats that can still be booked.
-Click on the green seats
-Then click on the dark gray seats that you wish to choose, and these will now turn green
-If the seats that you wish to book are green, you can proceed with the booking.
- How can I buy tickets if I already have a reservation?
You can purchase tickets at Ticket Shop of Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn or directly at the ticket counter before you board.

- I have a 2nd class ticket but would like to travel 1st class, how do I make the change?
You can make a 1st class reservation. In step 3 under Reductions, you can select the Swiss Travel Pass, which means that you only pay for the reservation. The difference between 1st and 2nd class can only be paid at the station. The cost of a change in class depends on the route.
- What is the difference between 1st and 2nd class?
In 1st class you have plenty of space with ample legroom. 1st class has spacious, comfortable single or double seats. With fewer people per car, you should have a more relaxing journey.
2nd class offers comfortable double seats with sufficient legroom.
- Panoramic car?
1st and 2nd class do have panoramic windows.
- How do I reserve a wheelchair space?

- Do I need to book my meals in advance?
If you wish to order the special of the day or the 3-course menu, a reservation is essential. You can make this reservation together with your seat reservation or at least one day before the day you travel at email@example.com or call +41 (0)81 300 15 15. You can also order à la carte on the Glacier Express. The meals are freshly prepared on board and are served to you at your seat.
- How can I change/cancel my online booking?
Online tickets cannot be changed or canceled.

- Is there enough room for luggage?
There is room for one large suitcase and one item of hand luggage per person
- Are dogs allowed?
Dogs are not allowed in the Glacier Express as food is served on board.
