Travel safely with us

We are delighted to be able to welcome you aboard the Glacier Express again. We will do our utmost to ensure the safest possible travel for you on board our trains. Unfortunately, this entails a number of restrictions in terms of what we can offer. It also involves your cooperation. Our Railservice is available round the clock to answer any questions you may have.

COVID certificate requirement

The Glacier Express is following the guidelines set out in the public transport safety concept and the measures outlined for tourist traffic and gastronomy. We are therefore obliged to adhere to the new regulations adopted by the Federal Council on 17.12.2021 regarding an extension of the certificate requirement.

Access to the Glacier Express is granted to all guests who can present a valid Covid certificate (CH or EU/EFTA certificate), that documents either a complete vaccination or a recovery together with a valid identification card. A Covid certificate based on a negative test result is no longer sufficient from the 20.12.21 on. If you have an international vaccination certificate you must change it into a valid COVID certificate prior to the trip. In addition  masks are compulsory except at your seat. You must wear a mask when getting on and off the train, as well as when leaving your seat during the journey. Once you are at your seat, you may remove your mask.

The certificate obligation applies to all persons aged 16 and over (children under 16 are excluded from the certificate obligation).
The mask obligation applies to all persons aged 12 and over (children under 12 are exempt from the mask obligation).

Certificates are checked by our employees before passengers embark. In order to help us carry out the checks as quickly as possible, please have your certificate and some form of ID ready when the train arrives.

For the latest safety information and travel regulations, we also advise you to consult the websites of the Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH), the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA), the regulations given by your home country and/or the WHO.
